It is with great sorrow that I write this last blog post on behalf of my father. Tim passed away on Wednesday, January 22nd, in Charlottetown, PEI after a short and quickly developing case of brain cancer. He was lucid and pain-free until very near the end, and very grateful for the many comments, voice memos, emails, and other communications from his friends and colleagues around the world during his illness.
His obituary and details of the funeral service will be available on the Belvedere Funeral Home website. There will be a wake on Saturday, February 1st, 2025 and the funeral on Sunday, 2nd February 2025. The service will be live-streamed and available as a recording for those who are unable to attend in person; the link will be available on the funeral home website. Memorial donations may be made to the Captain Nichola Goddard Fund at True Patriot Love (https://truepatriotlove.akaraisin.com/ui/timgoddard/donations/start) or to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Charlottetown, PE, with attention to Unit 8 (https://qehfoundation.pe.ca/ways-to-give/memorial).
For this last blog post, my father requested that I post the following picture, which was taken in Kosovo in the early 2000s. He said he didn’t dare tell the NATO forces at the time that he could hardly clear his mind, his best weapon, but he has now.

I was just thinking about you all today and wondering how Tim was faring. I knew the end had to come soon but getting this news has put a blanket of sorrow over my thoughts. I will tune into the recording of the funeral for sure. Meanwhile, how about emailing the blog photo to me so I can fix the shadow on Tim’s face in order to better see his smile. I will return the photoshopped version to you.
Spencer and I send love to you all and hope to see you in the summer despite the gaping hole I know that has been left by Tim’s passing.
