Papua New Guinea

I spent eight years (1976-1983) as an educator in Papua New Guinea. This immediate post- independence period was an exciting time to be in the country, as educational change was grounded in the emergence of a post-colonial society. During this time I held a number of  teaching and administrative roles, including the privilege of being the founding principal of Kiriwina Day High School on the Trobriand Islands. As a teacher employed by the government of Papua New Guinea I was posted to three different areas – Milne Bay in the south east, the East Sepik region to the north, and the Eastern Highlands in the central part of the country.
