After we had finished the first exploratory mission to determine the situation in Kabul, we made a couple of return visits to collect information for the Project Implementation Plan (PIP). In between thesetrips, the team members returned to our various homes. We spent the late winter months writing the PIP, communicating with each other by e-mail, and then did one final short visit back to Kabul to validate our ideas. We wanted to be sure that what we had designed in the comfort of Canada, Australia and New Zealand would also withstand the practical rigours of Afghanistan.
