(and) Found

Tim Goddard with copy of novel Found
Glasses no longer required, but it is me!

Book six … from hospital, with love.

So here we are. December 8th, and I’m still with you. With great pleasure I can tell you that I’m in pretty much the same position from a medical point of view—still waiting as these brain tumours work their way through my system, but I’m hopeful that I’ll see Christmas. Well. Hear it, anyway.

I’ll take this moment to thank all of you who have written, sent notes, called, etc. It has been wonderful and a huge privilege to have this time with you all. Please keep them coming!

I don’t want anyone thinking I’ve just been sitting around, waiting to die. Apart from working on my memoir (thanks to Sally and others for arranging a dictation method that works when I can’t see anything—we ended up with actual cassette tapes, which I didn’t think they were still making!), I’ve been delighted to have the opportunity to finish book six of the Rashford series (with Victoria’s help). This was planned as the penultimate book in the series and was going to be a bit longer. After I had my heart problem in the summer, I decided to finish it just in case. Thankfully I got the chance to do that while I could still see.

I do have ideas for book seven, but I think this one wraps things together reasonably well. I hope you will agree. Found closes off Gavin Rashford’s story to date and sees him resolve one of the key questions from earlier in the series, related to Josee and the missing and murdered Aboriginal women. I hope that it satisfies your hunger for knowledge for what happened there and what might happen going forward to Rashford.

I’m delighted to be able to offer this book from my hospital bed and look forward to any early reactions from anyone who reads it in the next little while. If you get the chance to read it, please let me know what you think. I’m also hoping to put together a Q and A kind of discussion over the next couple of weeks, so I welcome any questions you may have about my writing process, the story itself, or the issues in it, including the secession of the Prairies from the rest of Canada.

Best regards to everybody, and compliments of the season,

Tim

  2. Hi Tim

It takes a special mind to be a storyteller. Most people, like me, find our imaginations to be pretty limited to our own realities. Your stories may be anchored in your realities but you soar higher and higher and I find them persuasive and engaging.

I’m looking forward to immersing myself in to your new book, Found.

    With great respect and gratitude.

  4. Thanks for sending a picture – You can’t see me, but now I can see you and know you still look like your old self. And thanks for the reminder about your Rashford books. Somewhere along the the line I got sidetracked and did’t keep going with the series – this is not unusual for some one with chronic ADHD. So now I will just start from the beginning and enjoy them from 1 – 7.

No other news from here in the States. I am refusing to watch/or listen to the National News until I am sure trump will not blow up the country. Instead I’m focused on All Things Considered re-runs and fooball (not soccer) playoffs. Mostly I just listen to TV while I am doing something else, which is a guarantee that the “something else” won’t get done well.

Spencer was glad to see me come home but now that he’s done the requisite licks and kisses, he has decided to hibernate and just asks me to wake him when daylight savings starts again.

So, that’s it for now – thanks for the post. Look forward to the next one.

Love from below the border, Candy and Spencer, Prince of Darkness
